The first half of 2014 has been very successful for the Slovak Industrial team in Cushman & Wakefield. The last 6 months of this year C&W mediated the leasing of warehouse and production space of size more than 54.000 sq m. A positive signal is, that of approx. 25.000 sq m of total leased area were lease contracts to previously vacant spaces.
These spaces were occupied mostly by expanding companies, which are already established in Slovakia and are mostly active in the automotive industry and logistics sector.
Of this total area of 54.000 sq m more than 35.000 sq m comprised modern spaces. The rest, therefore approx. 19.000 sq m were leases of older industrial spaces. In terms of regional distribution C&W mediated the lease of space of size 39.500 sq m in Western Slovakia and the rest therefore comprises 14.500 sq m in Eastern Slovakia.
„Overall we can summarise that the first half of 2014 was very active in Slovakia and we have noticed a growing interest of companies in industrial and warehouse space.
A positive is that interest is being manifested not only by companies, which are already established in Slovakia but also by new companies which are considering establishing a new branch in Slovakia. However if we compare ourselves to the Czech republic where several times more industrial space is leased every year than in Slovakia we can still see a lot of potential for growth“ says Martin Baláž, Head of C&W Industrial department in Slovak and Czech republic.
